The WISE System for Raising AI-Ready Kids
A simple 4-step guide for families with kids 8–16

The WISE Framework
Your kid just asked AI to do their homework. Now what?
You could panic. You could ban it. Or you could teach them to use it wisely.
That’s where WISE comes in — a simple framework for raising kids who can think critically, stay safe, and use AI as a tool (not a crutch).
The Four Steps of WISE
W – Wonder
Spark curiosity, not fear.
Before your child hits “send,” ask: “What do you think AI will say?”
Treat AI like a science experiment. Make guessing part of the fun. Laugh at the silly answers together.
Try this tonight: Ask your child to predict ChatGPT’s response, then check if they were right.
I – Interpret
Think together. Don’t just accept answers.
AI sounds confident. That doesn’t mean it’s correct.
Ask your child:
- “Why did it give that answer?”
- “Does this make sense?”
- “What’s missing?”
Show them that AI is smart — but not always right. Critical thinking beats blind trust.
Try this tonight: Pick one AI response and find the mistake together.
S – Safeguard
Set boundaries that actually stick.
Decide together:
- When can AI be used? (Homework help? Creative projects? Not for final drafts.)
- Where? (Kitchen table, not bedroom.)
- What’s off-limits? (Never share full names, photos, addresses, or school names.)
Try this tonight: Create one family rule about AI and write it down.
E – Engage
Empower kids to create, not just consume.
The goal isn’t to ban AI. It’s to help your child use it creatively.
Try:
- Writing silly stories together
- Brainstorming science fair ideas
- Inventing games or challenges
- Asking your child to teach you what they discovered
Try this tonight: Ask your child to show you something cool they made with AI (not just copied from it).
How to Use WISE at Home
Start small. Pick one letter this week. Ask at dinner: “Did we use any WISE steps today?”
Make it a conversation, not a lecture. Curiosity + guardrails beats fear every time.
The Bottom Line
WISE families raise kids who are:
- Safe — they know what not to share
- Curious — they ask “why?” instead of just accepting
- Creative — they use AI as a tool, not a replacement
- Ready — for the AI world ahead
